SHERMAN'S REVIEW

Located on trendy Newbury Street, the Newbury Guest House puts guests right smack in the middle of the action with outdoor cafes, restaurants, and eclectic boutiques just steps away. Occupying three adjacent, historic, red-brick and brownstone Victorian row houses, the converted 32-room B & B retains much of its original detail from decorative fireplaces, ceiling moldings, and parquet and hardwood floors. A full breakfast buffet is included in the rate, served in the breakfast parlor, or on warmer days, on the lovely patio.
There are three room types with varying features, although all include tasteful Federal-style furnishings. The largest have large bay window alcoves with seating areas while midsize rooms offer bright, airy quarters with oversized windows. Sleigh or four-poster beds are both, as are a loveseat or sitting area and full bath. The smaller rooms are the most economical, forgoing some of the finer details and space allotted to the other rooms. All rooms emanate a historic feel, without skimping on modern amenities, like cable TV, phones with voicemail, and free WiFi Internet service. For those who enjoy people-watching, grab a room facing Newbury Street, with its steady flow of hip passersby; those that prefer peace-and-quiet might opt for the quieter rear rooms.
OTHER EDITORIAL REVIEWS
The Newbury Guest House would be a good deal even if it weren't ideally located in the heart of the Back Bay. Room prices even include continental breakfast.

Well-located, big, 32-room Victorian brownstone house, with rates at the lower end of Boston's price range.

Its success is due to smart management, fine furnishings, and a location on Boston's most fashionable shopping street. Rooms with queen-size beds, natural pine floors, and elegant reproduction Victorian furnishings open off an oak staircase; prints from the Museum of Fine Arts enliven the walls.

This four-story brownstone was built in 1882 and provides you with all of the modern amenities in gracious 19th-century style. The charming hotel is on upscale Newbury Street, which is surrounded by some of the best shopping, restaurants, cafes and sightseeing attractions.
